Your final school years have started! I would recommend anyone who wants to have a good Leaving Cert and wants to feel confident and prepared for it to start in the beginning of 5th year with the preparation. That will give us enough time to see where you stand, to revise the grammar, catch up on grammar and vocabulary and starting slowly to focus on what happens in 6th year.
Don't forget that German is fun to learn, so on top of the above I also like reading a book with my students (no panic, it's very simple and not a novel of 500 pages.) Why reading?
Most importantly though is that with reading, translating, and talking about the story you will learn so much and increase your knowledge in a fun way.

- First, you work on your pronunciation, which you need to have on point for your Oral Exam.
- Second, you will automatically increase your range of vocabulary.
- And thirdly, We can use the text to pay attention to all the grammar that we have in German.

How do we prepare for the Leaving Cert?
In 6th year we’ll be focusing first on the oral exam:
After the oral preparation, we are looking into the Leaving Cert Papers:
Most important is that you know that our work together is your Leaving Cert preparation. All you should do outside of our classes is the homework which contains the letter writing and the Listening Comprehensions.
In 6th year we’ll be focusing first on the oral exam:
- practicing your general conversation,
- playing the roleplays back and forth
- and preparing the picture stories or your German Project (whichever you chose to do).
After the oral preparation, we are looking into the Leaving Cert Papers:
- Once we made sure your Letter writing is good, you’ll be writing letters as your homework.
- We work together on the reading comprehensions, this way we build up your vocabulary and understanding of texts.
- The Listening Comprehensions are also super easy to practice at home. I will be correcting them for you and give you feedback. This is basically the only way to practice them.

With all my heart I tried to develop opportunities that everyone has the opportunity to learn this beautiful language. There are small group courses and classical one-on-one classes to pick. If you have classmates that want to work on their German as well then we can also try and get a group course going with your friends. But in the end, it's you that decides what's best.
I can only promise you that I am there with all the passion that I have for the language (which is not little) and I will give my best and beyond to bring you forward and show you that learning a language can turn into a great experience.
